Do spells get more impressive visually as you level?
Hi, new GW: Nightfall player here. I'm currently a level 4 Elementalist, but I find the look of the spells a little disappointing. I'm referring to the little colorod balls my wand shoots, and the thin line that is supposed to be a lightning strike. Do these spells get 'prettier' as you level, or is the GW engine just not up to some nice effects? Maybe I'll swith to a melee character if that's the case.

No. Increasing your character level and/or the attribute points for a particular attribute will not change the way a spell looks. Each spell has an animation that doesn't change. Getting different skillls will provide different animations, but the animation for a particular spell won't change.
As for the weapon, that can change based on a few minor things. Type of damage is the main one. A wand dealing Fire damage will have a different looking projectile than one that does Dark damage. Never checked it, but different skins (looks) of a weapon may change the appearance of the projectile it fires, but I doubt anything but the type of damage makes a difference. They get prettier when you get more options, but the individual spells do not get prettier. |

They kept the spell graphics simple to keep graphics requirements as low as possible for the game.

Some spells will have more impressive graphics than others. I like meteor storm (see several meteors fall on your opponent) or firestorm, which is a rain of fire from the sky (I miss firestorm, it's a terrible spell to use for the most part once you get past a certain level, but I did like the graphics)

Crazybanshee, go Proph and add Orion to your party =).
But, like all three above already said, indeed, the animations don't change. Too bad, ehh =(. |

Animations dont change, but some of the later skills do look a bit better, but to keep it where you can run it with lower end set ups theres no insanely large/detailed animations.

Yes, there is one I can think of. Flesh Golem, which only gets larger when you put more atts in it. You get attribute points by leveling, so I suppose it can be applied.

Well, it does get bigger, but it doesn't change. It is the same skin, just a different size. Also, all minions change size based on the attributes in Death Magic, not just the Golem. Golem is the largest, so the most noticable. In fact, a Golem with zero Death Magic is quite cute
